John L. Polk:

John L. Polk, Attorney at LawJohn L. Polk graduated from Charlotte High School in 1968. He then went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree from Stetson University in Deland, Florida in 1972. He received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 1976. He was in the top 10% in each of his graduating classes. After being admitted to the Florida Bar in November of 1976, he opened his own practice in Punta Gorda. In early 1977, he became a partner in the Law Firm of Hathaway & Polk, working closely with the late John Hathaway, for three years. He opened John L. Polk, PA in 1980, conducting a general practice covering most areas of law.

John L. Polk is a fourth generation Punta Gorda resident and has had an office located in the downtown area since 1976.  The office, for the last six years, has been located at 137 E. Marion Avenue in the historic Yeager home.  The hone was built in approximately 1927 and was the residence of Mr. Yeager, who served as Charlotte County Tax Collector from 1932 to 1952.  When Mr. Yeager passed away, his wife replaced him as tax collector and served from 1952 to 1972.  John acquired the home from their daughter, Areta Yeager Futch, who attended school with John’s mother, Azel Polk.

John is a member of the Florida Bar, Charlotte County Bar Association, American Bar Association, International Association of Assessing Officers, Middle District Court, Punta Gorda Chamber, Moose Club and Cleveland United Methodist Church.

John S. DzurakJohn has resided in Charlotte County since 1980. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University in 1977, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1980. John was an adjunct faculty member of the Legal Assistants Program at Manatee Community College for 20 years. John is a past president of both the Charlotte County Bar Association and the Rotary Club of Punta Gorda, Florida.
